“On Location” with Sharp-NEC at ISE 2023

By Mike Pedersen

On Thursday we were able to tour the Sharp-NEC booth where our #AVTweeps friend Graham Kirkpatrick was able to show us their product line.  With a wide range of products to show us, a few offerings really caught our attention.  Few were very impressed to see large-format displays being offered with a USB-C input – this allows one cable to carry audio, video, as well as USB from USB peripherals attached to the display.  This USB-C input has the potential to dramatically simplify connectivity and workflows.  They were also showing their new P627UL, a successor to their NP-P605UL projectors that are popular in classrooms.  The P627UL is incredibly quiet at 22dB in Eco mode and nearly maintenance free with a fully sealed light engine.  Finally, they were showing off a giant new 104” 21:9 aspect ratio display as well as the power of their Hiperwall offering – a complete command and control solution.  It was an impressive tour with offerings that seemed well suited for our higher education market.
