“What is the one thing you’re focusing on now
for summer pre-planning?”
Craig Shibley
California Baptist University
Removing all “band-aids.” We got thrust into Fall that not all solutions were permanent. Spring gave more time to plan, but in summer I want to remove all planned temporary solutions. As well as customizing technology for different schools/pedagogies. 2020 was all about getting up and running, and most areas got the same equipment. In summer, I want to tweak/add tech specific to departmental needs.

I am hoping over the summer we can really focus on developing standards to support the systems we have all worked so hard to get up and running. Hopefully we will be running in less of a “crisis mode” and can work on developing a “maintenance mode”.

At the University of North Georgia, we’re still installing camera systems in classrooms that were ordered in August and shipped in October. We’re also installing classrooms and conference rooms in three new buildings that will be opening in the fall.

The main thing we are going to be focusing on is maintenance. Most of the rooms went unused or underused this year and making sure everything is back to go will be the main priority. Crestron flash updates, firmware, things like that.
BC Hatchett
Vanderbilt University
One thing we are focusing on is how much of what was put into production for fall will carry over to what is hopefully a post-pandemic environment. We will have a lot more actionable data heading into summer than what we had heading into fall.
James King
Stockton University
We are going to focus on making sure we are flexible to meet any requests sent our way.

Cocktails. I’m focusing on cocktails right now. Wait? Am I supposed to say something serious? Let’s just be glad we got out of 2020 and take a moment to celebrate… with a cocktail.
