Tufts’ Josh Kaufman to Co-Chair AVIXA Technology Managers Council

The AVIXA Technology Managers Council announced its new co-chairs taking over the position that was vacated when Mike Petersen of Iowa State University’s term ended one year ago. The new co-chairs are Josh Kaufman, who serves as the Campus AV Operations Coordinator at Tufts University in Boston, MA, and Jeremy Blasnogame, AV Systems Engineer at Children’s Mercy Kansas City. Josh Kaufman ha been a champion for the higher education vertical over the past fourteen years. Kaufman notes, “I’m honored to take on this role and I’m looking forward to serving the community through my term. It speaks to the increased visibility of the higher ed vertical in the industry at large that I have this opportunity. That said, I look forward to serving all our colleagues across the industry in this role.”

Josh Kaufman has previous organizational leadership experience as a founding steering committee member at the formation of HETMA, assisting to guide the organization to its current prominence. Kaufman adds: “I’m looking forward to working with AVIXA and the Council to continue to grow the field. AV has shown, once and for all, the value we bring across so many verticals over the last few years and I’m hopeful this will mean continuing growth for our field.” Kaufman’s leadership role on the the Council further demonstrates the importance of the higher ed’s representation throughout the greater AV industry.

Here at Higher Ed AV, Josh Kaufman also authors the monthly “AV for Access” aimed at educating and highlighting the need for universal access, accessibility, the associated best practices in our classroom and learning environments. This experience will no doubt help the Council to greatly impact AV in tangible ways to over the course of this next tenure.

Mission of the AVIXA Technology Managers Council

To create a community for current and future technology management professionals to discuss our collective interests, share best practices and diverse perspectives while collaborating with other AVIXA groups and the industry as a whole, while also supporting existing and emerging audiovisual technology, and creating solutions as a service. We intend to further this mission by serving as subject matter experts for our institutions and companies, advocating for them and our clients, and by serving as liaisons to manufacturers and integrators, sharing valuable feedback based on our real world experiences in the interest of our mutual benefit.
