Troy Powers, HETMA Veteran and Northwestern University AV Professional Announces as Vice-Chair of the Higher Education Technology Managers Alliance

HETMA (Higher Education Technology Managers Alliance) is proud to announce that Troy Powers of Northwestern University will serve as the new Vice-Chair of the organization.
Troy brings years of experience in Higher Education, the AV Industry and service to the HETMA community to the role.
Troy was selected for this position by HETMA Chair Erin Maher-Moran, who aid, “Troy Powers brings exceptional leadership experience and deep industry knowledge to the role of Vice Chair. His proven track record of innovation in higher education technology and active involvement in HETMA’s initiatives makes him an ideal choice to help guide our organization forward. As we continue to support and connect higher education technology managers across the country, Troy’s insights and collaborative approach will be invaluable in strengthening our programs and our community.”
Troy has previously served HETMA as Events Committee Chair, spearheading the annual Virtual Conference, the presence at InfoComm, ISE, regional roadshows and more. In 2024 he was elected by the membership to serve as an at-large member of the HETMA Board of Directors.
“Being entrusted with the responsibility of helping lead HETMA forward as Vice-Chair means a great deal to me. Joining HETMA and growing the relationships I’ve built through this community have been instrumental in my own career growth, and I want every HETMA member to have the same opportunity.” Troy said.
He continues, “I am committed to investing my time and effort because I believe in the power of this community and the impact of the initiatives we are driving. This leadership role is more than just a title—it’s a chance to foster connections, create opportunities, and ensure that HETMA continues to empower AV professionals in higher education.”
Troy’s appointment to Vice-Chair received a unanimous advice and consent vote by the HETMA Board of Directors.
Outgoing Vice Chair Ryan Gray added, “No one has poured more of their time, effort and ability into HETMA than Troy. I believe the best days of this alliance are ahead of it and it is because of the character and caring of people like Troy that I know it is true.”
This announcement was made at the annual State of HETMA session at the annual HETMA Virtual Conference.
