For the Love of AV

Welcome to February!!  Love is in the air… Snow is on the ground (at least here on the East Coast)… and we celebrate all the things we love about AV!  The AV Life will be introducing another weekly segment this month called The AV Rockstar.  We will be shing the spotlight on those in the industry that don’t get the recognition they deserve. There are so many AV professionals that are doing incredible things that keep advancing our industry and should be recognized for what they do.  This month we will have a mega-episode with members our community where we will share stories and the things we love about AV, we will bring in some of our younger listeners (at least to some of us on the podcast) and talk about digital dating in the age of COVID, and we will be having our Digital Divide episode! So much fun to be had, don’t miss a second of it!  Until Out Next Adventure…

Latest Episodes

“170: The Hard Truth”

In this episode we welcome back Will DeWitt and welcome for the first time Richard Hutton. We talk about some hard topics that need to be addressed in wake of the last few weeks of conferences and online discussions. We hit the ground running on this one as I almost don’t get to introduce our guests. We dive into the Scope of things for the PM Minute and let loose with the topics for the remainder of the show! Listen in on all the great conversations.

“169: Dating in the Age of COVID”

In this week’s episode The Crew and Tim welcome a few of our younger (and single) AV professionals Jake Goldfarb, Page Stanberry, and Dave Pequeno as we discuss what it is like for them to be dating in this crazy COVID world we live in. Joe Way makes an appearance in the only way he knows how, and we talk a little about the very successful HETMA Conference that had just wrapped up before we recorded.  Enjoy!

“168: For the Love of AV”

In this week’s episode we welcome Aaron Peterson, David Pequeno, and Lex Peters to our craziness as we share all the things we love about AV. We also honor Lex as our first AV Rock Star! Lex shares about her drive, goal setting, and all the things she has her hands in that truely show how much of a Rock Star she is! We also talk about Infocomm and its move to October and the future of how we greet people.  Enjoy!

“167: HETMA and the Conference”

On this week’s episode we welcome Joe Way, Mike Pederson, Greg Koerner, and Will DeWitt who are all members of HETMA – the Higher Education Technology Managers Alliance (at least I got it right here in the write up). We discuss HETMA and their upcoming conference, February 9-11, 2021 (register at hetma.org), Joe Way attempts several times to take over the Podcast, we have our PM Minute, and travel on a variety of tangents along the way!  Enjoy!

Listen to Last Month’s Episodes!

“166: Network Security”

This week we welcome Mark Okern, Harry Meade, and Frank Padikkala. Make sure you make sure you are in a comfortable spot for this long and energetic discussion regarding Network Security. We talk about all aspects of it, not just the ones that relate to AV. We have a great edition of the PM Minute with Murphy and we drop our masks in the Firing Range!

“165: Welcome Nancy Blanchard”

In this short episode the crew and your host, Tim, welcome the latest Crew Member to join our ranks: Nancy Blanchard! We let Nancy introduce herself before giving our listeners a small glimpse into the next few months of The AV Life. What you don’t hear from this episode was our crew brainstorming some INCREDIBLE episode ideas that will be released over the next few months!  Don’t miss a minute of all the fun!

“164: In Summmmmmer”

Happy 2021! The Crew and I are back to our usual antics where we introduce an upcoming new segment “The AV Spotlight” where we will shine the spotlight on those AV Professionals who are doing awesome things that we might not all be aware of. We talk about the upcoming HETMA Conference, have a great conversation with the PM Minute, and talk about planning for Summer and the unknowns with our current economic climate. These conversations lead us into a great Firing Range that wasn’t what we had planned but that’s The AV Life!

“163: Reflections”

In this quick episode your host, Tim, gives his reflections over the last 10 years of being in Higher Ed AV as well as 2020 for The AV Life. He also gives us a little sight into the future of The AV life in 2021.

About the Show

The AV Life is a weekly podcast where we talk (or ramble off topic about) about AV, technology, food, weird things, and whatever else comes into our lives!

We have fan favorite segments like the PM (Project Manager) minute and The Firing Range. The Firing Range is where we take hot topics, divide into teams and debate our side of the argument.
