InfoComm 2023 is in the rearview, and I don’t know what to say, but I am going to try anyway. I lost count how many times someone asked me if this is what I expected, and honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but the turnout for HETMA surpassed it. In short, our community has absolutely come together in ways that I could only dream of. Over the course of a week, our Higher Ed-focused folks put on a half-day education summit, staffed the first end-user booth to ever be on the InfoComm show floor, held 2 massively successful happy hours, hosted show floor tours, podcasting, led educational sessions, and celebrated the accomplishments that this group has achieved over the past year. All of this while taking in a trade show and taking classes. While the final numbers are still being tallied, it’s clear that HETMA had one of the most successful showings at InfoComm this year. Just walking around and seeing all the badge flags and lanyards, it was apparent that everyone wanted to be part of what was happening in the back row of section 4000. We had vendors walking their customers to our booth so that they could get involved. 5 years ago, it was nearly impossible to get time at a vendor’s booth because we were “end users” but now they are seeking us out. There are so many individuals that made this happen that I am afraid that if I tried to list them all someone would be left out, but from the bottom of my heart, thank you to this incredible community for the support and for showing out on the biggest stage of AV in North America. Now all we have to do is top it next year, and I have complete faith we will.
