This month’s theme is mental health. I am going to make this month’s article short and there is a reason for this. Mental health is essential and we all need to take care of ourselves. I do appreciate all my readers and I want to take this time to ask you all to take 24 hours no technology challenge. Take a break from technology. Yes Mr. IT is asking you to put down the technology. I know it sounds odd but it is important that we take time for ourselves. We need to have true face time with our family and friends. Go for a walk outside. Go for a run. Get off the social media platforms. Read a book—Cook a meal. You will be amazed at how better you will feel. Not only will this break help you feel better but it will also help improve your work. Taking breaks from our daily grind helps our brains rest and helps prevent burnout that I know we all face. So I am asking my readers to take on a 24hr challenge with no technology. Find a day you know you don’t need to answer work emails or check on your team. Maybe it is a weekend. Maybe it is a holiday. Maybe it’s long waiting PTO. Whatever it be put the phone, tablet, or computer down and get outside, and talk with your family and friends. The 4th of July is most likely my favorite holiday. It is a day I always find myself on my devices less, talking with family/friends more, and just thinking about my life and the world. The fireworks help me mentally get away from everything. Well, make those plans to be away from your devices. Don’t post on social media, turn off your notifications, turn off your emails, and just reconnect with yourself and the world. After the 24hr is up I ask you to come back, read this again, read the other great articles, and then let me know how the 24hr challenge went.
