HETMA Acquires Higher Ed AV Media | Breaking News

In a full buyout merger, effective July 1, 2023, Higher Ed AV will serve as the official media and publishing arm for HETMA, aimed at amplifying the influence of the higher ed vertical in the AV industry. Higher Ed AV media, already best known for a large selection of podcasts, monthly columns, the Higher Ed AV Awards, and monthly events, the move will create a HETMA Editorial Board to focus on highlighting the diverse voices of its members and accelerating their initiatives including the Prism Scholarship, HETMA Approved Program, Advisory Councils, spotlighting their corporate partnerships, and the recently announced HETMA Roadshow.

HETMA's treasurer and board of directors member, Atkins Fleming explains the value this merger gives to HETMA's membership: "I couldn't be more excited about the acquisition of the HigherEd AV media platform into the HETMA family! This will allow HETMA to immediately amplify the voices of its membership by providing a platform for articles, podcasts, and other media engagement. The foundation is built and the infrastructure laid, so HETMA members will immediately be able to take advantage of this brand and its loyal following, which is tailor-made for our vertical. You simply can't pass on an opportunity like this!" Under the control of HETMA, members are provided platform to share their stories, case studies, insights, and voices through a variety of mediums, at no cost to them. Corporate partners can leverage the platform for sharing case studies, product announcements, and hosting livestream events.

Joe Way, Higher Ed AV's founder and host of the Higher Ed AV Podcast will serve as editor-in-chief of the publication, under the direction of the communication chair and editorial board. Lex Evans will remain on as Higher Ed AV's creative director. Way explains the transition: "this is an exciting time for both organizations. The exponential growth they have both seen over the past couple years makes the merger the next natural step for each. The ability to leverage a well-established brand and platform in Higher Ed AV, along with the volunteer power of HETMA, the acquisition solidifies the higher ed vertical as a strong force in the industry." Way continues: "I am mostly excited about seeing the new, diverse voices who emerge, who now have a platform to share their stories and the incredible things they are doing at their institutions. While Higher Ed AV was always dedicated to that mission, it now can truly be achieved."

HETMA members can reach out to Britt Yenser, communications chair, and Joe Way, chair and editor-in-chief, to join the editorial board and set up their personal branded channel. Corporate partners can now leverage both platforms for optimal reach. See sponsorship opportunities at HETMA.org or by reaching out to Jon Hamilton, sponsorship chair.
