The Higher Education Technology Managers Alliance is now accepting nominations for its Fiscal Year 2026/2027 Board of Directors and Chair positions. This annual process gives HETMA members the opportunity to help shape the organization’s leadership and support the continued growth of the higher education technology community.
Nominations are open through March 31, 2026 for a range of Board and committee leadership roles. Nominees for Board of Directors positions must be currently employed by an institution of higher education. Committee Chairs must either be currently employed by an institution of higher education or be an emeritus member in good standing. Individuals nominated will have until April 15 to accept or decline their nomination, and candidate statements and bios will be due by April 25.
Voting will take place from May 1 through Friday, May 8, with results announced during the monthly HETMA meeting on Friday, May 15. Leadership transition will continue through June 30.
Positions open for nomination include two Board of Directors At Large seats, including a 1 Year Term and a 2 Year Term, along with Chair openings for Advisory Boards, Approved Programs, Communications, DEI, Education, Events, Membership, Regional Groups, and Sponsorship.
Board of Directors – At Large – 1 Year Term: The 1-Year At-Large shall be responsible in coordination with the 3-Year At-Large and 2-Year At-Large for conducting the organization’s affairs as directed by the Board of Directors and shall oversee continuous operations of the various committees of the organization.
Board of Directors – At Large – 2 Year Term: The 2-Year At-Large shall be responsible in coordination with the 3-Year At-Large and 1-Year At-Large for conducting the organization’s affairs as directed by the Board of Directors and shall oversee continuous operations of the various committees of the organization.
Chair – Advisory Boards: The Advisory Boards Chairperson(s) will schedule and facilitate the focus group meetings with sponsor vendors. Due to the number of sponsors and interest in this program there are Advisory Board meetings nearly every week.
Chair – Approved Programs: The HETMA Approved Chairperson(s) will work with HETMA members and manufacturers to vet equipment capabilities for use in higher education environments. They are responsible for recruiting Approvers, aiding in getting the products from the manufacturer to the Approvers, compiling the results into a white paper, and satisfying the deliverables, which includes but not limited to working with Higher Ed AV Media to post the results.
Chair – Communications: The Communications Chairperson(s) will be responsible for all publications, promotional material, and organization communications. Including but not limited to bi-weekly newsletters, EduWire, and social media
Chair – DEI: The DEI Chairperson(s) will be responsible for leading the HETMA efforts to ensure that our membership and initiatives support and expand this vital space, primarily administering the Prism program.
Chair – Education: The responsibility of this chair is to work with HETMA membership and vendor partners to identify and coordinate training and demo events. This position will also work with the Events chairperson(s) to help setup vendor sessions during HETMA sponsored conferences and events. Education committee plans monthly Lunch n Learns, sessions for the annual HETMA virtual conference, the Education Summit at InfoComm and more. They also administer the HEX credential program.
Chair – Events: The Events Committee Chairperson(s) will be responsible for coordinating HETMA conferences and events utilizing volunteers and SMEs. Events to include but not limited to annual virtual conference, Educause, HETMA Golf Tournament, InfoComm, and coordinate with the Regional Chair on Roadshows.
Chair – Membership: The Membership Chairperson(s) will work to publicize and expand HETMA recruitment opportunities. They are responsible for hosting regular “New Member” orientations as well as send out emails to members upon joining and following up at day 7 and 30.
Chair – Regional Groups: The Regional Groups Chairperson(s) will work to develop teams based on the different regions our members operate in with a focus on the challenges and opportunities each present. They are also responsible for HETMA Roadshows, working in conjunction with the Events Chair.
Chair – Sponsorship: The responsibility of this chair is to be the main point of contact with potential HETMA sponsors and vendors that take advantage of the product consultation and review offerings that our various committees undertake. They are responsible for administering the Business Relationship Manager program to help with sponsor outreach.
